Mahkota Research unveils new state-of-the-art mobile console for water treatment application

Mahkota Research Sdn Bhd has designed, built and supplied a revolutionary concept in controlling filtration units in water treatment plants. The conventional control units used in plants utilize extra space inside the building and use more cables. The maintenance costs of these conventional units can be high. With the introduction of mobile consoles, one console is configured to control the operation of the entire filter plant. This is practical since most filter plants today run in auto mode and are seldom controlled manually. If manual control is required, the system uses a touch screen panel that provides the interface required for the control of the filter valves and pumps. The system also uses less cabling and does away with the unnecessary maintenance of hardwired components.

Mahkota has supplied the units for the Sungai Layang Water Treatment Plant in Masai , Johor and is currently supplying to Kepong Water Treatment Plant Phase IV in Kuala Terengganu .

The mobile consoles comprises of a built-in CPU to drive the HMI and receives signals from the PLC's located at a separate panel. In future, the mobile console can be replaced with wireless tablet PCs where the operators can hand carry during the manual control of the filter plant.

This concept also reduces building space required to house the filter control consoles and the overall civil works costs will be reduced in future.
